Heavenly Sword Review
The difficulty shouldn't stop you from owning this game though. Anytime I'd run across something extremely difficult, I'd still pop the disc in to play earlier stages. I must say I'm surprised that this game didn't get more attention and that they marketed the game solely on the sword. Don't get me wrong, the swordplay makes God Of War feel almost childish, but the real bliss of this game is in the "aftertouch" mechanism. Anytime you throw or shoot an object, this gives you the ability to control the movement of that object with the six-axis AND gives you a birds eye view of the movement. It's one of the most addictive additions to any game I've ever played. The graphics and voice acting here are superb. It looks and feels amazing. You also get control of 2 characters throughout, not just the one shown on the box. The other quirky little arrow shooter you get to play with reminds me of Bjork. And I rather like that. But I digress...
Bottom line? PHENOMENAL. Certain aspects of this game can be found nowhere else. But some of the prompts are frustratingly fast-paced and some of the bosses are simply too difficult to be fun.
Heavenly Sword Feature
- The Heavenly Sword itself can transform into three distinct weapons, each with its own accompanying fighting stance used by Nariko to vary combat styles.
- The combat engine can scale up from sophisticated one-on-one encounters to one-on-many, where enemies employ intelligent squad-based dynamics, right up to combat against battalions pushing real-time gameplay and (AI) to unprecedented new levels.
- The physics-based combat allows players to sweep debris against opponents, kick tables to halt an oncoming surge of fighters, smash the enemy into the scenery, or throw bodies into other enemies using “aftertouch” controls.
- Heavenly Sword provides a wide range of objects & weaponry including rapid fire crossbows and massively damaging bazookas.
- Coupled with real-time story evolvement and amazing set-pieces, Heavenly Sword feels like a blockbuster action movie that takes combat gameplay to new heights.

Great game - Eugene Yoon -
This is a great game over all. I love this game and its very addicting. Although its short, ill have you come back to it everyday.
Probably the best game I've ever played - morgandavis -
When people ask me my favorite video game, Heavenly Sword is my answer. The only reason this game gets any negativity and wasn't more popular is that it is a short game. But its shortness does not detract from how amazing of a game it is.I got stuck when I was playing it, so it didn't feel short to me like it did to alot of gamers. The graphics are superb, the storyline is worthy of an award, and the gameplay is incredibly fun and addicting. It may not be long game but I think it may be the best game I've ever played.
Fascinating experience - Foy - Costa Rica
Excellent Experience
This game is truly beatiful, with amazing motion capture and facial animation. The characters have a clearly defined personality each one, special mention to Kai, gorgeous girl.
The mechanics of the game are soft and nice, a mix of Hack/Slash and shooting (innovative way to guiding the arrows moving the sixaxis) with quick time events, and spectacular cinematics and final moves. In addition the history is very interesting, with some drama and cool ending.
Heavenly Sword still is a must have in your Playstation3 collection, If you haven't it, you are missing a fascinating experience, thanks to Ninja Theory Team.
Okay for a While - Ron - Jersey
One of the earliest games for the ps3 Heavenly Sword is beautiful to look at. I did enjoy the hack and slash portion of the game, but the shooting sections really sucked for me. I don't enjoy them personally and I didn't like the motion control aspect. The game itself is very short and probably can be finished in an afternoon by an experienced gamer. I also didn't like that you can't skip cut scenes. If you die and have to replay something, you have to sit through the same cut scene over and over. This is okay if you can pick it up cheaply enough.
