Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Review
I have been a long time player of the metal gear series all the way back to when he debuted on the Nintendo Entertainment System. This game is not the final mission of Solid Snake. I beg to differ, may I say something a little cliched? It is only the beginning. This latest edition to the Metal Gear series sets the tone for the "final battle" between long foes. Snake has aged in the game series to an old man; but fear not later in the game you can unlock the face-camo that shows snake as a young snake. You travel from continent to another tracking liquid and trying to finally find him. You meet up with familier allies: Colonel, Raiden, Otacon, Sunny, Meryl, Zero, Solidus, Liquid, Vamp to name a few. But this game holds non-stop action. You will finally be revealed the reason why Snake is aging so quickly. Be on guard for a lot of cut-scenes cuz Hideo Kojima displays a lot of in between "mini movies" so the actual gametime is really approx. 2-3 hrs of actual time if you stormed through it without stealth. But for those of you who are die-hard Metal Gear fans who grew up with the series back in the mid 1980's era you will want this.

Really not very good, here's why - billygoat -
First off, I have to say I'm really surprised that this game got the solid reviews that it received. It ranks last or next to last out (folklore is poor) of the 25+ ps3 games I have played. Here's why.
The game really has very little game to play, most of the game is comprised of cutscenes. The gameplay itself is easy and very repetitive. The bosses are the worst I have ever encountered. Other than the praying mantis, they are just time consuming endeavers and very boring. The fact that you can purchase additional weapons, etc. in the middle of a battle is stupid beyond belief. The ending battle is the worst possibly in video game history.
The story is not very good either. its long, overly dramatic and corny. The potty humour is embarrasing.
The graphics are pretty good, but no better than other solid games. The load times are terrible and poorly placed. Replay value, not much.
To summarize, I really don't get it, I had fairly high expectations of this game because from my experience reviews are usually fairly accurate. Want a really good game that is fairly recent try Demon's Souls.
Bad game - Craig Hightshoe - Charlotte, NC
This game is VERY different than MGS3: Snake Eater in more subtle ways. It's a little more run and gun and less stealth (unless you want to spend at least 2x's longer playing). It's around 5 hours of actual game play but with a ridiculously excessive amount of cutscenes. I think the only thing that really brings the game back is the emblems at the end that give it some reply value. If not for the emblems this would definitely be a P.O.S. game. This game would have been epic though if they had cut out all the excessive cutscenes like all the needless romance and whining, this is an action game for cryin out loud not a soap opera.
Best game I've played since MGS3 - Pierre -
Pure exoticness :)
I have a wild imagination, always have lol. I think this game appeals to a certain crowd. Some people just lack that love for a grand action-adventure. I can understand all the complaints about the game. What they hate, MOST love. When ever I play a game, I want to see what the creator is trying to tell me. It takes hard work and effort to create a game. To put together something over the span of 20 years is amazing to me and I can appreciate the legacy he left to us. Thank you kindly, Hideo Kojima~

MGS4 is a next-generation adventure set in the aftermath of MGS2: Sons of Liberty. The concept behind the latest Metal Gear Solid project is "no place to hide," and this edition in the series will force Snake into unexpected circumstances with an all-new storyline that breaks away in some ways from the previous MGS franchise entries. We don't want to spoil it for you, but, producer Hideo Kojima did reveal some very juicy tidbits about the game and the storyline when it was first announced at E3 of 2006. "Until now," said Kojima, "we've released two entries of the MSX2 Metal Gear series, and three entries in the Metal Gear Solid series. Add to this Portable Ops, and you get a total of six titles. All mysteries will be cleared up in Metal Gear Solid 4."
Kojima was very clear about the finality of MSG4, leaving gamers to wonder, "Will Snake die?!" When asked if the story will come to this sort of an end, Kojima responded without the slightest bit of vagueness, "It will come to an end." The MGS4 E3 trailer showed a number of characters from the Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid histories. This final installment is sure to deliver loads of cameos, in fact, it is rumored that nearly all the characters from the series will make an appearance.
In addition to a return of classic Metal Gear Solid characters, the gameplay systems from part three are also expected to make a comeback. The camouflage system from part three will make it into MGS4, with the addition of "OctoCamo," Snake's most advanced stealth suit to date. The name appears to be formed from the words "Octopus" and "camoflauge," and players will be awestruck by the chameleon-like camo that changes with the surroundings. OctoCamo allows Snake to blend in with his environment as it digitally manifests nearby textures in real time. Think if it this way, if Snake is standing next to a wall worn out with holes, he too will appear to be riddled with holes. It has also been revealed that MGS4 will have online play, but no specifics have been released. Although very little information is known about the game's visuals, rumor has it that MGS4 is expected to be the finest representation of console graphics on the PS3, and it is expected that they will just get better and better as the game nears its release date.
